Album Notes & Community Reviews

Introducing a highly unorthodox, chamber-like instrumentation featuring cello and flute, the innovative drummer pioneers a deeply refined, intellectually rigorous approach to modern swing. The highly contrapuntal, intricately woven arrangements prioritize delicate interplay and shifting timbral textures over raw blowing. The profoundly influential debut established a uniquely elegant, fiercely original pathway for the development of West Coast jazz.
