Album Notes & Community Reviews

After years of functioning as a highly successful behind-the-scenes songwriter for major Nashville artists, the bearded country crooner delivered a massive, career-defining solo debut. Inspired by a soul-searching road trip following the death of his father, the album eschews modern country-pop sheen for gritty, soulful vocals and traditional outlaw country instrumentation. It dominated the CMA Awards and sparked a massive commercial revival for traditionalist country music.
