Hibernation
by Chrisma
Pioneering the use of synthesizers in the Italian underground scene, the duo collaborated with producer Vangelis's brother to create a freezing, hyper-modern minimal wave album. The aesthetic is incredibly cold, relying on sparse electronic rhythms, icy analog synths, and completely deadpan, detached vocal deliveries. The record stands as a remarkably early and sophisticated European precursor to the brooding synthpop movements of the early 1980s.
