Album Notes & Community Reviews

For her first release supported by a full ensemble of musicians, Haley Fohr broadens the scope of her traditionally solitary, lo-fi aesthetic. 'In Plain Speech' utilizes sweeping strings, woodwinds, and ominous synthesizer drones to build cinematic, darkly psychedelic soundscapes around her striking, multi-octave baritone voice. The resulting work feels both deeply intimate and profoundly theatrical, solidifying her status as a singular voice in modern avant-folk.
