For her debut album, Clairo collaborated with producer Rostam Batmanglij, moving beyond her 'lo-fi' origins to a more polished and expansive studio sound. The album explores themes of youth, sexuality, and her diagnosis with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, using a sophisticated blend of soft-rock textures, R&B grooves, and dreamy pop melodies. It features a children's choir on 'Impossible', adding a unique textural layer.
