Moult
by Clara Iannotta
Inspired by the biological process of shedding an exoskeleton, 'Moult' translates this vulnerable transformation into a physical and sensory listening experience. Clara Iannotta’s composition treats the orchestra as a single entity, blurring conventional instrumentation with prepared instruments, found objects like paperclips, and manipulated recordings on cassette players to create a disarmingly organic yet intricate sound world. The resulting work explores the choreography of sound, with a granular attention to textural detail that merges acoustic fragility with electronic artifacts, evoking a past that haunts the present.
