Clifford Brown With Strings

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Following the immensely popular precedent set by Charlie Parker, the exceptionally lyrical trumpet prodigy immerses his famously warm, brilliant tone in a sea of sweeping, highly romantic orchestral arrangements. The lush, cinematic string charts provided by Neal Hefti frame the brassman's flawless, highly melodic improvisations on a selection of beautiful pop standards. The deeply sentimental, remarkably elegant recording highlights the profound emotional depth of his tragically short-lived genius.
