Album Notes & Community Reviews

Acting as his debut recording as a bandleader, 'New Star on the Horizon' immediately validated Clifford Brown as a massive talent in the modern jazz scene. Backed by a stellar sextet including Art Blakey, the sessions highlight his gorgeous, fat tone and brilliant, logical improvisational lines. It served as the brilliant opening chapter of a legendary, albeit tragically brief, recording career.
