Album Notes & Community Reviews

'There Existed an Addiction to Blood' functions as a transmutation of horrorcore, re-imagining the subgenre's hyper-violent tropes through a darker, more vivid lens devoid of the original era's misogyny. Daveed Diggs's precise, unflinching lyrical delivery details gruesome, cinematic scenarios, while the group's self-production combines industrial hip-hop, noise, and field recordings into a sonically intriguing and eerie backdrop. The result is a thematically focused experiment that uses horror conventions to explore themes of racial violence and anxiety, creating a uniquely unsettling and modern hip-hop experience.
