The Sheffield collective shifted their avant-garde industrial sound into a more structured, jazz-inflected post-punk direction for their Polydor Records debut. Adi Newton's menacing vocals glide over slinky fretless bass lines and prominent brass arrangements, creating a dark, cinematic atmosphere evocative of 1940s film noir. Shortly after its release, Newton temporarily dissolved the group to focus on his electronic side-project, The Anti-Group.
