Clock DVA's 'Thirst' captured the Sheffield group's move from tape-based industrial experimentation toward a tense, full-band post-punk language. Adi Newton's vocals and the album's noir-like atmosphere helped connect the city's industrial underground with the darker end of early-1980s independent rock.
