Clutch

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stepping significantly away from the straightforward hardcore punk of their debut, the Maryland quartet fully embraced a massive, blues-driven stoner rock aesthetic on their eponymous sophomore effort. Neil Fallon's deeply eccentric, highly surreal lyricism weaves through impossibly heavy, incredibly groovy guitar riffs and highly syncopated rhythms. This crucial transitional record firmly established the distinctively funky, psychedelic hard rock sound they would refine for decades.
