Album Notes & Community Reviews

Inspired by the archives of the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago, 'Black Rainbows' represents a profound artistic reinvention for Corinne Bailey Rae. The conceptual album completely dismantles her previous acoustic soul sound, embracing riot grrrl punk, avant-garde jazz, and psychedelic rock to explore themes of Black history and femininity. It is widely regarded as a fierce, uncompromising, and highly experimental turning point in her career.
