Album Notes & Community Reviews
Establishing Keigo Oyamada as a truly visionary, genre-destroying auteur, '69/96' is an incredibly dense, sample-heavy masterpiece of the Shibuya-kei movement. Cornelius flawlessly splices aggressive, heavy metal guitar riffs directly with sunny 1960s pop melodies and highly complex electronic beat programming. The album serves as a dizzying, endlessly inventive pop-culture collage that perfectly predicted the mashup aesthetics of the following decade.
