Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released prior to their massive international commercial breakthrough, 'Woman's Gotta Have It' finds the British-Asian ensemble Cornershop firmly solidifying their unique cross-cultural aesthetic. The album seamlessly blends the droning structures of traditional Indian raga directly with the fuzzed-out guitars and nonchalant vocals typical of 90s indie rock. It stands as a highly inventive, distinctly multicultural milestone within the Britpop era.
