Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Hold Steady frontman offers another rich, detailed collection of cinematic character studies set against a lush, subtly orchestrated backdrop. Utilizing his signature talk-singing delivery, the record functions as a poignant, bittersweet exploration of memory, aging, and the fading mythology of American working-class life.
