Album Notes & Community Reviews

The third solo album from The Hold Steady frontman continues his focus on meticulously crafted, character-driven narrative songwriting. Produced by Josh Kaufman, the tracking frames Finn's conversational vocal delivery with warm, restrained horn and string arrangements rather than his band's signature heavy bar-rock riffs. The lyricism provides empathetic, detailed portraits of desperate, working-class Americans searching for meaning and connection.
