Album Notes & Community Reviews

The American pianist and composer leads a newly formed, dynamic quartet on his third outing for the prestigious ECM label. The tracking bridges the gap between intricate, fully composed modern post-bop and intense, spontaneous free improvisation, highlighting complex interplay with saxophonist Chris Speed. The album demonstrates a mastery of shifting tension, moving from delicate chamber jazz whispers to dense, chaotic crescendo.
