Dream Archives

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Dream Archives', pianist Craig Taborn leads a trio with cellist Tomeka Reid and percussionist Ches Smith through a set of compositions that merge post-modern jazz with contemporary classical and electronic textures. The ensemble navigates four Taborn originals and covers of Geri Allen and Paul Motian, shifting between lyrical introspection, free-form abstraction, and intricate rhythmic frameworks. The production balances the acoustic instrumentation of piano and cello with the subtle integration of electronics and vibraphone, creating a soundworld that is simultaneously spacious, cerebral, and dynamically interactive.
