Album Notes & Community Reviews
Serving as a foundational text for the 2000s underground hip-hop movement, the Southern duo's debut successfully balanced sharp intellect with irreverent humor. Producer Kno crafted a highly atmospheric, sample-heavy boom-bap landscape utilizing obscure soul and classical records. Over these lush beats, Deacon the Villain delivers incredibly dense, multi-syllabic rhymes that simultaneously tackle socio-political issues and self-deprecating battle raps.
