Album Notes & Community Reviews

Inspired by his mother's advice to give people their flowers while they are still alive, the Atlanta-based vocalist delivers a deeply affirming, retro-leaning soul record. 'If Words Were Flowers' pairs lush, orchestral strings and gospel choirs with smooth, psychedelic grooves reminiscent of classic 1970s Chicago soul. The album acts as a warm, highly optimistic response to the prevailing cultural anxieties of the pandemic era.
