Album Notes & Community Reviews
The debut album by Argue's eighteen-piece Brooklyn big band was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album and a Juno Award in his native Canada, and it was named best debut in the Village Voice jazz critics' poll. Argue, who had studied with Bob Brookmeyer, founded the ensemble four years earlier to apply minimalism and indie rock dynamics to the big band format.
