Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Symphonies Nos. 2 & 4' documents Gerard Schwarz's Seattle Symphony recordings, made at the Seattle Center Opera House in 1989 and 1990, that sparked the modern revival of David Diamond's music. The Second Symphony, premiered under Serge Koussevitzky and the Boston Symphony in 1944 after Dimitri Mitropoulos had personally paid for its parts, is coupled with the compact, mortality-haunted Fourth of 1945.
