Album Notes & Community Reviews

The David Ensemble was founded in 1975 under conductor George Kirollos with the explicit aim of carrying Coptic chant beyond the church service and beyond Egypt. Recorded in Paris, 'Coptic Liturgies' presents the unison chant of the three Coptic liturgies, those of Saint Basil, Saint Gregory and Saint Cyril, drawn from a hymn corpus transmitted orally for centuries.
