Dean Blunt’s production, created with Giles Kwakeulati King-Ashong, weaves together gentle acoustic guitars, hazy strings, and stark drum patterns, creating a backdrop for his deadpan baritone and the ethereal guest vocals of Joanne Robertson. The album’s songwriting presents cryptic, fragmented narratives touching on themes of paranoia, heartache, and urban isolation, balancing its often melancholic and confrontational tone with moments of sincere, weary beauty.
