The incredibly young Bay Area quintet broadened their aggressive sonic palette on this ambitious sophomore release, incorporating funk rhythms and highly complex, progressive song structures. While slightly more uneven than their blistering debut, the stylistic experimentation helped distinguish them from the crowded late-eighties speed metal scene.
