Dan Bejar strips away the lush, live-band instrumentation of his previous efforts, opting instead for cold, nocturnal synthesizer soundscapes. Recorded largely in his home, the minimalist electronic production serves as a stark backdrop for his cryptic, highly sarcastic poetic observations concerning modern decay and alienation. The resulting album is eerie, intimate, and distinctly cinematic.
