Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Poison Season', Destroyer pivots from the soft-rock textures of its predecessor toward a grander, more theatrical sound, juxtaposing lush chamber-pop and orchestral arrangements with bursts of full-band glam rock. The album's structure frequently alternates between these two modes, with certain musical motifs reappearing in both string-laden and rock-oriented forms. This dynamic production provides a widescreen backdrop for Dan Bejar's distinctively cryptic lyrics, which explore themes of urban life, romance, and artistic disillusionment with a melancholic, cinematic scope.
