Daddy Plays the Horn

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Returning to the studio after a period of relative inactivity due to personal struggles, the towering tenor saxophonist delivers a robust, fiercely swinging session. Supported by a rhythm section featuring pianist Kenny Drew, his massive tone and highly articulate bebop vocabulary are captured with immense clarity. It serves as an essential, deeply commanding documentation of his mid-century resurgence within the West Coast jazz scene.
