Album Notes & Community Reviews
Following his celebrated return to the United States, tenor saxophone legend Dexter Gordon recorded 'Sophisticated Giant' with an eleven-piece ensemble. The rich, lush arrangements by trombonist Slide Hampton provide a dense backdrop for Gordon's fluid, masterful hard bop improvisations. It is a stunning, deeply melodic triumph of his late-career resurgence.
