Following the messy dissolution of The Birthday Party, Nick Cave briefly decamped to West Berlin, collaborating intimately with the instrumental noise-rock outfit Die Haut. 'Burnin' the Ice' captures four incredibly intense, chaotic vocal tracks from Cave alongside heavy, dissonant guitar instrumentals. The menacing, deeply atmospheric recording perfectly documents the brooding, destructive energy of the West Berlin underground scene prior to the formation of the Bad Seeds.
