'Frog in Boiling Water' represents a stylistic shift for the four-piece, recorded over a tumultuous four-year period with producer Chris Coady. The band utilized a democratic songwriting process that nearly led to their dissolution before completion. Lyrically, the collection examines the numbing effects of late-stage capitalism and technological overload. It moves away from their earlier guitar-pop sound toward dense, shoegaze-inflected arrangements.
