Album Notes & Community Reviews

Emerging as a major solo star away from the big bands, the vocalist utilizes her warm, resonant contralto across a set of sophisticated popular standards. The arrangements strike a balance between lush orchestral backing and subtle jazz inflection. The release highlights her highly reliable, comforting vocal presence during the turbulent wartime era.
