Album Notes & Community Reviews

Hailing from New Zealand and finding a perfectly suited home on the American Kranky label, Dissolve delivers a deeply hypnotic, heavily sustained interpretation of post-rock. 'That That Is ... Is (Not)' actively stretches standard rock song structures into lengthy, swirling psychedelic jams characterized by heavily textured guitar interplay. The album successfully marries the dark melodicism of the Dunedin Sound with expansive, drone-heavy instrumental improvisation.
