Songs of a Dead Dreamer

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Paul D. Miller essentially codified the New York illbient aesthetic with this sprawling, surreal instrumental release. Blurring the lines between avant-garde turntablism, dark ambient drone, and slowed-down hip-hop breaks, the record operates as a massive sonic collage. Its cinematic, deeply paranoid atmosphere provided a grim, intellectual American counterpoint to the contemporaneous Bristol trip-hop scene.
