Album Notes & Community Reviews

Bernard Haitink leads the Concertgebouworkest in a profoundly moving, critically acclaimed interpretation of Shostakovich's bleakest wartime symphony. The 1983 digital recording captures the immense tragic scope, crushing dissonance, and funereal pacing of the work with incredible clarity and emotional weight. It remains a definitive modern recording of the Russian composer's mid-century masterpiece.
