Album Notes & Community Reviews

Pioneering the American premiere recording of the controversial Soviet masterpiece, the celebrated conductor extracts immense emotional weight from the famed Philadelphia string section. The performance navigates the precarious balance between forced populist triumph and veiled, agonizing tragedy inherent in the score. It remains an essential document of the symphony's initial global reception.
