Album Notes & Community Reviews

Having honed his exceptionally gritty, honking tenor style backing Ray Charles, Don Wilkerson brought an unapologetic R&B energy to the Blue Note roster. 'Preach Brother!' pairs his aggressive, blues-drenched saxophone with the heavy Hammond organ of John Patton, resulting in an incredibly intense, sweat-soaked session. The album is a premier example of hard bop completely giving way to unadulterated soul jazz.
