Doug Sahm cut 'The West Side Sound Rolls Again' with Sir Douglas Quintet partner Augie Meyers and the West Side Horns, an eleven-track set of San Antonio rhythm and blues issued by Teardrop. Sahm's application of the name West Side Sound to this band popularized the term for the city's blend of conjunto, blues and soul. The album also reached Europe in a Swedish edition on Amigo.
