Album Notes & Community Reviews

Elegantly bridging the distinct stylistic gaps between Britpop, dream pop, and the burgeoning trip-hop movement, Dubstar's debut 'Disgraceful' is a masterclass in melancholic British dance music. The album juxtaposes Sarah Blackwood's sweet, highly detached vocal delivery against polished, synthesizer-driven beats and surprisingly cynical lyricism. The massive success of the single 'Stars' firmly established the trio as a sophisticated, dancefloor-ready alternative to guitar-heavy bands.
