Album Notes & Community Reviews
Riding the massive wave of the British neo-soul revival sparked by Amy Winehouse, the Welsh singer's debut album became the best-selling record in the UK in 2008. Produced by Bernard Butler, the music meticulously recreates the sweeping strings and dramatic vocal deliveries of 1960s Motown and Dusty Springfield. Driven by the ubiquitous hit 'Mercy', the record earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
