Album Notes & Community Reviews

Composed in the aftermath of a massive South American tour, this extended suite brilliantly filters regional rhythms through the sophisticated lens of the legendary jazz composer. Recorded mostly in 1968 and 1970 but shelved for several years, the arrangements masterfully incorporate tango, bossa nova, and rhumba influences without losing the signature swing of the Ellington orchestra. It stands as one of his finest late-period conceptual achievements.
