Album Notes & Community Reviews

For this unusual Columbia date, the legendary bandleader strips his orchestra down to a nonet, affectionately dubbed the 'Spacemen.' The sparse, punchy arrangements provide an intimate showcase for the distinct voices of his soloists, operating in a relaxed, surprisingly modern swing context.
