Following the departure of iconic frontman Ian McCulloch and the tragic death of drummer Pete de Freitas, the remaining members controversially pressed on with new vocalist Noel Burke. The resulting heavily psychedelic record was widely rejected by critics and fans, leading to the band's temporary dissolution shortly after.
