Album Notes & Community Reviews

Concluding his long-running mathematical album era, '- [Subtract]' finds Ed Sheeran returning to his acoustic roots during a period of intense personal turmoil. Produced primarily alongside Aaron Dessner of The National, the record trades stadium-sized pop anthems for sparse, folk-leaning introspection. The lyrical content heavily addresses grief, depression, and his wife's health struggles.
