Album Notes & Community Reviews
Pioneering the use of electronic effects in jazz, the Chicago saxophonist runs his horn through a Maestro Varitone processor to achieve a distinctive, synthesized tone. 'The Electrifying Eddie Harris' features the massive hit 'Listen Here', blending rigid hard bop frameworks with deeply infectious, Latin-tinged soul-jazz grooves. The record was a massive commercial success that aggressively pushed jazz into modern, electrified territory.
