Album Notes & Community Reviews
Breaking away from traditional big-band Latin formats, the visionary Nuyorican pianist pushed salsa dura into radically experimental, progressive territories. The title track features extended, dissonant electric piano solos and heavily syncopated, fiery percussion, heavily reflecting the turbulent political climate of early 70s New York. It is a stunningly innovative masterpiece that forever altered the trajectory of Afro-Cuban jazz and salsa.
