Album Notes & Community Reviews
Revolutionizing the drum kit's role within Brazilian music, this record introduces aggressive cymbal patterns that directly bridged native polyrhythms with American hard bop drive. The propulsive, complex rhythm section provides a fiery foundation for brass and piano improvisations. '脡 samba novo' fundamentally defined the explosive, highly interactive aesthetic of the samba-jazz movement in Rio de Janeiro.
