Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a sharp pivot away from the driving, guitar-oriented post-punk of their first two albums, this record heavily embraces analog synthesizers and darkwave aesthetics. Produced by Flood, the album is incredibly cold and mechanical, utilizing industrial drum machines to back Tom Smith's brooding baritone. The bold stylistic shift proved commercially successful, landing them another number-one album in the UK.
