Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally conceived as the soundtrack for a revolutionary stage play, this dramatic masterwork tackles the historical narrative of the legendary Brazilian slave rebellion leader, Zumbi dos Palmares. The composer brilliantly merged tense, cinematic orchestral arrangements with dense Afro-Brazilian polyrhythms, delivering a highly emotional and politically charged critique of the concurrent military dictatorship.
